What are the vital organs of your business?
How long could your business survive without a critical process?
What are the unique risks faced by your business?
We help clients answer these questions on a daily basis, and the reason we do this is to form the foundation of a Business Resilience program. Understandably, senior managers and boards focus the majority of their time and energy on running and growing the day to day business operation, leaving little room to consider their Business Resilience.
Identifying and categorising business risk from within an organisation can be a difficult task due to time constraints, lack of experience and closeness to the subject. External facilitation of the process helps management teams to look at their business in an entirely different (destructive) way – this is essential for spotting vulnerabilities.
We have developed a fast track approach to Business Resilience strategy development, which reduces our clients time commitment to an absolute minimum (typically 2-3 days over a 4 week period) Here is what we do:
- Identify Critical Processes – most businesses run hundreds of processes every day, we identify which ones are critical (Vital Organs) and how long the business can survive without them?
- Identify Resources – what resources are needed to operate each critical process? (People, Property, Systems, Suppliers etc)
- Identify Risks – what risks are each of the resources exposed to, what is the likelihood and impact of each risk?
- Identify Mitigations – what mitigation activities exist or are required to manage down risks to a tolerable level?
As we work through the Business Resilience strategy development process, our clients begin to see a picture of their organisation through a new and entirely different lens. They will also see their risk levels reduce and their business become more Resilient.
Once we know what makes your business tick, we then write up and maintain recovery plans, keep a watchful eye on your business risks and stand shoulder to shoulder with you to protect your business interests should the worst happen.
